I grew up in Marietta, Georgia with my mother and two older sisters. I wanted to attend the University of Georgia since I learned what it meant to go to college. I completed my undergraduate degree at UGA in Mathematics Education in 2008 and I am currently in my seventh year of teaching high school mathematics. I lived in St. Simons Island for my first two years after graduating from UGA and I taught at Glynn Academy, one of two public high schools in Brunswick. I returned to Athens in 2010 and have been teaching at North Oconee High School in Bogart for the past five years. I am happily married to my husband, Beau, of almost three years. I absolutely love my job and the students I work with.
My first year of teaching was the first year the state rolled out the Georgia Performance Standards. Since then, we've moved toward the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards. I've taught almost every course available since these new standards were implemented at the high school level in 2008. I've taught Support level classes, regular level classes, accelerated classes, and now for the first time I am teaching AP Statistics. I have developed a love for statistics that I never knew existed in me.
This is my first course as a graduate student and I am so excited to be working toward a second degree from the University of Georgia.
